Terms of Use

1. Acceptance of the Terms

By downloading, installing, or using PaperNext, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the application.

2. Description of the Service

PaperNext is an unofficial client application for Paperless-ngx, an open-source document management system. The application connects to a self-hosted Paperless-ngx server to display, manage, and organize your documents.

For questions regarding server availability, data storage, or server-side processing, please contact the administrator of your Paperless-ngx instance.

3. User Responsibilities

You are responsible for:

• the security of your server credentials
• the correct configuration and protection of your Paperless-ngx server
• the content you store and manage
• compliance with all applicable laws
• regular backups of your data

4. Disclaimer of Warranties

PaperNext is provided free of charge and on an "as is" basis. To the extent permitted by law, we do not warrant that:

• the application will operate without interruption or errors
• the application will meet specific requirements
• any errors will be corrected

Use of the application is at your own risk. Mandatory consumer rights remain unaffected.

5. Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by law, rebtsoft UG (haftungsbeschränkt) is not liable for:

• data loss (if preventable through proper backups)
• unauthorized access by third parties to servers or data
• indirect or consequential damages, or loss of profits
• damages resulting from the use of the application

The following remain unaffected: intent, gross negligence, injury to life, body, or health, fraudulent concealment, guarantees, and claims under the Product Liability Act.

6. Third-Party Services

PaperNext communicates exclusively with your self-hosted Paperless-ngx server. We are not responsible for:

• its availability or security
• configuration errors or data loss on the server
• third-party services or integrations your server may use

7. Intellectual Property

The proprietary source code of PaperNext (excluding the open-source components listed below) is provided free of charge. It may not be redistributed, decompiled, or reverse-engineered, to the extent permitted by law.

PaperNext uses, among others:

• Flutter Framework & Dart packages (BSD-3-Clause, MIT)
• Paperless-ngx (GPL-3.0, used solely as a backend service via API)
• additional open-source components (see “Open Source Licenses” in the app)

All open-source components retain their respective licenses.

8. Data and Privacy

Data is stored exclusively on your device and on your own Paperless-ngx server. We do not collect or transfer data to third parties. See the Privacy Policy for details.

9. Updates and Changes

We may modify the application or these Terms at any time. Continued use of the application constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

10. No Support Obligation

PaperNext is provided without any support guarantee. Updates or bug fixes may be offered but are not required.

11. Termination

You may stop using the application at any time by uninstalling it. Your server data remains unaffected.

12. Applicable Law

German law applies, unless mandatory consumer protection regulations specify otherwise.
